About Amberlyn Keller
Before moving fully into counseling, Amberlyn spent 13 years teaching and coaching across multiple educational levels, including special education, and she taught online psychology courses as a part-time adjunct for Midland College from 2005 to 2010. That blend of classroom and coaching experience continues to shape her perspective on how mindfulness and mental skills can support performance, resilience, and day-to-day functioning.
Amberlyn has been counseling since 2015, beginning with practicum and internship work for school counseling certification and continuing through the supervised hours required for LPC licensure. She is fully licensed in Texas and has provided care in both private practice and a behavioral psychiatric hospital setting. Her counseling style is grounded in client-centered therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), with a realist approach that supports practical insight and forward movement. She also places importance on working through grief and trauma as part of healing and adaptation, and she may incorporate tools such as mindfulness, deep breathing, yoga practices, and other mind-body strategies when they fit a client’s comfort level and goals.
Amberlyn also works with individuals navigating major life changes, including job loss, career management concerns, and grief related to the loss of a beloved pet or an impending loss. She is able to support people living with traumatic brain injury and other medical conditions, informed in part by her own experience of surviving a stroke in 2020. Across concerns such as depression, guilt, shame, and stress, she approaches each session as a purposeful conversation where clients can talk things out, think things through, and build perspective they can apply in daily life. She enjoys working with children, adolescents, and adults.

Evidence-Based Tools, Delivered Online
Amberlyn Keller integrates practical, skills-based counseling with a supportive, person-first style. Client-centered therapy focuses on understanding the client’s experience and priorities, creating space to talk things through and build clarity about what matters most. This approach can be especially helpful when someone feels overwhelmed by stress, life changes, grief, or relationship strain.Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) adds structured strategies for noticing unhelpful thought patterns and experimenting with new ways of responding. It can support clients working through anxiety, low mood, self-esteem concerns, and everyday coping. Amberlyn also draws from mindfulness-based practices, which emphasize present-moment awareness and simple techniques such as breathing and grounding to help clients relate differently to intense emotions and daily pressure.
Finding the right approach is part of the work. Amberlyn collaborates with clients to identify goals, preferences, and what feels most useful, then adjusts the pace and tools over time so the process fits the person rather than forcing a one-size-fits-all method.
Online therapy makes support more accessible and flexible. Sessions can happen through video calls or phone sessions, and clients can also use live chat or text-based messaging, which can be helpful for busy schedules, travel, or days when writing feels easier than talking.
